Quilt for Bear Paw Festival's Auction

Hello again! Just a quick note this time with a picture of my little quilt I am donating to the Auction for our Guild this weekend. Bear Paw Festival's Theme this year is "Excalibear". So my quilt's title is: "The Legend of Excalibear's Vacation to Eagle River, Alaska". A mouth full. Why shouldn't we have a Camelot Alaskan style...? Right!

That is so beautiful, Roxane - how can you bear to give it away! (sorry about the pun - I couldn't resist it).

I've just read your previous posts on your quilting trip, which looks brilliant - you must have had a great time and it's lovely seeing it through your eyes.

Your blog makes me wish I did quilting - sadly I gave away my old sewing machine last year because I hadn't used it for many years.

Thank you Margaret. Cute pun, I liked it. Check out Allie's in Stitches blog it shows some amazing hand stitching projects with beautiful embroidery. http://alliesinstitches.blogspot.com/

I love the little details of the tree, bear, and eagle in this piece that I saw once I zoomed in. Great color and texture combinations!

Thank you Beena, I had fun with it.

Thanks Roxane for the book info - I'll look for it. I do enjoy stitching. Your post inspired me to get out my cross stitching - abandoned over a year ago. Unfortunately the kit (just a bookmark) is terrible - the fabric hasn't been cut properly so the design is all wrong - on a slant. So then I got out some wool and a knitting pattern to keep my hands occupied. I just felt I had to make something.

Beena, Thank you for the comment, I had planned a bit more embellishing on it but I might redo this one on a larger scale some other time. Always in a hurry to meet deadline I am afraid...
Margaret, Sorry about your cross stitch not working out. I remember seeing some of your beautiful knitting on your blog. Can't wait to see what you will be doing this time. Hope you like the blog.

I hope you did well at the Bear Paw Festival. I remember how cool it was last year.
Do you have any advice about Sadona Arazona? I might be going into town October.

That is gorgeous Roxane! Can I ask, how long did it take you to make it?

Rick, I have to send you a long email about Sedona. You are going to love it. All those gorgeous pictures that you are going to take back with you. You lucky person. About Bear Paw it is still going on. My little quilt is getting up there in the bidding. We are having fun. I will make a post with some pictures. We missed seeing you this year. When are you coming back here?
Iliana, Thank you, I am so glad that you liked it. It was done in about two days after the initial sketch was worked out and my colors picked up and all. It is a small piece 15X6 around that. The eagle and the bear had to be done ahead of time for the paint to dry out and such.
